The fastest way to get the monthly PDF statements from First Citizens Bank that you need for a profit & loss statement: the official PDFs, with the printed balances that let every figure reconcile.

THE SHORT VERSION
  • Statements live inside each account's view in Digital Banking.
  • Several years of statements typically stay available online.
  • Choose the monthly statement PDF over any transaction download; the download has no printed balances to check the math against.
  • Accounts that came to First Citizens through an acquisition (such as legacy CIT or Silicon Valley Bank relationships) may have pre-conversion statements that never moved online; request those from the bank.

Where First Citizens Bank keeps your statements

Account → Statements / Documents

Statements are easiest to download on a desktop browser rather than the mobile app. If the exact wording differs from the steps below, look for “Statements” or “Statements & Documents”; banks tuck it under the account or a top-level menu.

Step by step

  1. 01Sign in to First Citizens Digital Banking at firstcitizens.com on a desktop browser.
  2. 02Select the account from your dashboard.
  3. 03Open the statements or documents section for that account.
  4. 04Pick the statement month and open the PDF.
  5. 05Download and save it, then repeat for each month and account.
Download the PDF, not a screenshot or a spreadsheet export. RapidPnL reads the official statement PDF because it carries the beginning and ending balances. That's what lets us prove your P&L reconciles to the penny.

From the mobile app

The desktop site is the reliable route, but if you only have your phone, most months are reachable from the app too. Menu placement changes more often on mobile, so treat these as the general path rather than exact taps.

  1. 01Open the First Citizens app and sign in.
  2. 02Choose the account, then look for statements or documents.
  3. 03Open the month you need and save the PDF.
  4. 04The full archive is always reachable at firstcitizens.com from a desktop browser if the app falls short.

How far back can you go?

First Citizens keeps several years of statements available online for most accounts; ask the bank for anything older. If you need older statements than appear online, contact the bank to request them.

Turn those statements into a P&L

Upload the PDFs and get a management-use profit & loss in minutes, with every statement reconciled to the penny. $49 for 3 months, then $9 each additional month. Full refund if we can't reconcile.

The free statement is read, categorized, and reconciled on screen before you pay anything. One per person; no card required.

What the statement PDF contains, and why it matters

A monthly statement is more than a list of transactions. It prints three things a raw export never does: the beginning balance, the ending balance, and the totals for the cycle. Those printed balances are what make the document verifiable. RapidPnL adds the beginning balance to every transaction on the statement and checks that the result equals the printed ending balance, to the penny. If the math holds, you know nothing was missed, misread, or counted twice. If it doesn't, the statement is flagged and reviewed rather than quietly delivered with broken numbers. No AI-generated figure ever lands on the P&L; the AI only reads and categorizes, and deterministic code does all of the arithmetic.

This is exactly why transaction exports and screenshots fall short. A CSV export is a bare list with no printed balances, so there is nothing independent to check it against; a missing week or a duplicated day would pass unnoticed. Screenshots and photos are worse: they capture part of a page, at whatever quality your screen and camera allow, with no totals at all. The official monthly statement PDF is the one document your bank has already committed to, balances included, which is why it's the required input.

Format matters too. Statements downloaded from your bank's website are text-based PDFs: the characters are real text that software can read precisely. A scanned paper statement is a picture of text, and pictures introduce read errors that no reconciliation gate can fully repair. If all you have is paper, it's almost always faster to download the digital original from online banking than to scan. Each PDF can be up to 10 MB, which comfortably fits even long business statements.

Finally, gather everything in one pass. If the business runs through a checking account, a savings account, and a credit card, download all of them for every month in your period. RapidPnL matches card payments between the bank and card statements so the payment isn't counted once as a bank withdrawal and again as card spending, and transfers between your own accounts are excluded from income and expenses entirely. One complete set of PDFs, uploaded together, produces one clean P&L; a partial set leaves gaps you would otherwise have to explain to a lender.

If something goes wrong

The problems below cover most of what goes sideways when downloading statements from First Citizens Bank, with the quickest way out of each.

You can't locate the statements section

Click into the account itself; the section belongs to the account page, not the dashboard. If it's still absent, confirm the account is enrolled in electronic statements.

Months from before a system conversion are gone

Statements issued under a predecessor bank don't always carry into the new online archive. Ask First Citizens support to retrieve them and allow extra time.

Only an export tool presents itself

An export builds a spreadsheet without balances. Statements are separate, dated monthly PDFs; those are the files that reconcile.

The statement viewer won't hand over the file

Use the download control inside the viewer, or right-click the statement entry and save the link. A different browser clears most leftover cases.

Common questions

How many months of First Citizens Bank statements should I download?

For a profit & loss statement, download every month in the period you want to cover; most business loans ask for 3, 6, or 12 months. RapidPnL covers 3 statement-months for $49, then $9 per additional month.

Should I download a PDF or export transactions to Excel/CSV?

Download the monthly statement PDF. A transaction export usually lacks the beginning and ending balances that let RapidPnL prove every statement reconciles to the penny. The official PDF has them.

How far back do First Citizens Bank statements go online?

First Citizens keeps several years of statements available online for most accounts; ask the bank for anything older.

Do credit card statements work too?

Yes. Upload your business checking and any business credit card statements together. RapidPnL matches card payments to your bank so nothing gets double-counted.

What happens if a statement doesn't reconcile?

Every statement is checked: beginning balance plus every transaction must equal the printed ending balance. Anything that doesn't reconcile is flagged and reviewed instead of being delivered silently, and if your statements can't be reconciled at all, you get a full refund.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes. One statement of up to 15 pages runs free (an account is required) and the result appears on screen. There is also an interactive demo built on fictional data if you'd rather look around first.
